Exeter's Roman wall

Exeter City Wall was 'built by the Romans about 200A.D., since repaired by others. Much of the City Wall still stands, some of it of original Roman workmanship'. (Source: information plaque on the Exeter City Wall, photo provided)

Locations on the Exeter City Wall Trail

The trail follows the remains of the wall starting at Castle Street. It turns south west by Paul Street and then south east past The House That Moved to the area behind Exeter Customs House Visitor Centre and Exeter's Historic Quayside. From there, it trends north east past  Exeter Cathedral to  Exeter Princesshay. Browse our 'Photo Gallery' as the trail is clearly marked on one of the images there.
