Best Exeter Views, B. Cathedral Quarter, Exeter

Inside Exeter Cathedral

Inside Exeter Cathedral, stand under the west window near the main entrance and look east along the longest uninterrupted gothic vaulting in the world.

Outside Exeter Cathedral

Outside Exeter Cathedral, stand in Exeter Cathedral Close and look at the cathedral's famous west front. 'The West Front Image Screen of Exeter Cathedral is one of the great architectural features of Medieval England.' (Source: Exeter Cathedral website)

From there, pan around to view Exeter Cathedral Close.

The view from Tea On The Green in the north corner of Exeter Cathedral Close back to the north side of Exeter Cathedral is also superb.

Exeter Cathedral Towers

Take the Exeter Cathedral Roof Tour & Tower Tour and look out over the city and the surrounding Devon countryside.

Princesshay

Exeter Princesshay is a relatively new development. It was clearly built to channel the viewer's eye to Exeter Cathedral's remarkable Norman towers. Great view.

Exeter Quayside

Winter light from a low sun at Exeter's Historic Quayside is particularly stunning. That said, it's beautiful there all year round.

Exe Estuary

The Exe Estuary is a joy in all seasons. Our favourite times are early mornings and evenings at sunset.

Try the view from the quaysides at Topsham.

The views across the Exe Estuary from Turf Locks/The Turf pub are also stunning.

Haldon Forest

Haldon Forest is on raised land and its many paths provide extraordinary long views of Exeter, the Exe Estuary and Dartmoor National Park.
