Chagford

Chagford regularly appears in the national press as one of the most desirable places to live in the UK. Located reasonably close to the northern border of Dartmoor National Park and the A30, it's very easily accessible by bus or car from Exeter.

The National Trust's Castle Drogo and the remarkable Teign Gorge are nearby.

Okehampton

Okehampton sits below the highest ground in southern England on the north west border of Dartmoor National Park. The high ground is topped by Yes Tor and High Willhays which are the only two mountains in this part of the UK. The area is a must for walkers.

Bovey Tracey

Located just off the A38 that skirts the eastern border of the National Park between Exeter and Plymouth, Bovey Tracey sits below Dartmoor's most iconic tors and famous moorland villages. It's a great base from which to walk and experience the moors around Haytor Rocks and Hound Tor (East Dartmoor) and Widecombe-in-the-Moor.

Ashburton

Follow the A38 south from Bovey Tracey in the direction of Plymouth and you'll come to Ashburton. The town provides access to one of Dartmoor's most stunning gorges/wooded valleys, its high moor and some of its most popular attractions

Buckfastleigh

Situated by Ashburton, there's a cluster of top attractions at Buckfastleigh. Visit Buckfast Abbey, the South Devon Railway, Dartmoor Otters and Buckfast Butterflies and the River Dart Country Park.

Belstone

Strung out along the B3212, the hamlet is in a perfect location from which to discover the National Park's prehistory and to enjoy some of its best walks.
