I. East Devon, Exeter

Exmouth

Exmouth is the gateway town to the west section of East Devon. It lines the East Devon coast and the mouth of the Exe Estuary. Dawlish Warren is just across the water.

Exmouth is at the beginning of the internationally important Dorset and East Devon Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site which is also known as the Jurassic Coast.

Budleigh Salterton

Beautiful village behind a famous pebble beach. Red cliffs run west. The Otter Estuary punctuates the coastline to the east.

Inland, visit Bicton Park and Woodbury Common.

If you're a keen walker, we'd recommend walking east to Ladram Bay with its quirky beach, sea stacks and awesome views of Sidmouth.

Sidmouth

One of Devon's major visitor destinations, Sidmouth sits between beautiful red cliffs. At low tide, a huge stretch of reddish sand is revealed.

Connaught Gardens is a stunning setting for a cup of tea and sweeping views east and west. Sidmouth's promenade is one of the best places to people watch in Devon.

Follow the South West Coast Path west to Peak Hill and east to Salcombe Hill for sublime views.

Beer

Pretty and much photographed East Devon coastal village. Beer's small beach is wonderful. Visit Beer Quarry Caves and follow the South West Coast Path to Beer Head for huge views.

Seaton

Seaton overlooks a long pebble beach with Beer to the west and Axmouth to the east. It's a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visit Seaton Jurassic Visitor Centre to learn more about this rare UNESCO site. The famous Seaton Tramway is next door.

Axmouth

From Seaton, we'd recommend visiting Axmouth and its harbour. Follow the harbour to the sculpture where river meets sea. Super place and the west end of the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve.

Lyme Regis

Located by the East Devon/West Dorset border. One of the UK's classic coastal resorts. Essential visiting.
