Exeter City Wall Trail, Exeter Woollen Trail and Exeter Medieval Trail
Across the road from City Gate is one of the information boards for the Exeter City Wall Trail. The trail is a superb introduction to the fascinating history and culture of Exeter.
You can also follow the Exeter Woollen Trail and the Exeter Medieval Trail. All three are highly recommended. Exeter's a small place so it's easy to explore on foot.
Exeter's Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM)
Turn right out of City Gate, cross the road at the crossroads and then follow Paul Street up to Queen Street and you'll see Exeter's Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) in front of you.
High Street
From Exeter's Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM), wander down either Queen Street or Gandy Street to Exeter High Street.
Exeter Cathedral Close
From Queen Street, you can cross the High Street into an alleyway that takes you to Exeter Cathedral Close.
Exeter Cathedral
Paths run across Cathedral Green to the famous west end of Exeter Cathedral with its three rows of medieval sculptures. This is where you'll find the main entrance to Exeter Cathedral.
Princesshay
Head to the north corner of Exeter Cathedral Close and an alleyway takes you to Exeter Princesshay with its shops, restaurants and cafes.
Exeter's Underground Passages
At the top of Princesshay, where it meets Paris Street, turn left and you'll come to Exeter's Underground Passages.
Quayside
From City Gate, turn right and cross the road at the crossroads. Continue along North Street and then South Street. You'll come to a footbridge on your right that rises above the busy Western Way. A path descends to Exeter's Historic Quayside.
